Samvel Hovhannisyan holds a Ph.D. in Economics, has a wide range of academic interests, and is involved in various national and international projects that support entrepreneurship development and innovation in the European Union and Armenia.

Dr. Samvel Hovhannisyan worked as an Associate Professor at the Chair on Education Management and P

lanning within Brusov State University.
Throughout the last decade, he has consulted several European and US start-ups on IT Project Management.

Dr. S. Hovhannisyan  currently teaching two courses at the ASC: (1) Social Science Research Methods and (2) U.S. Political Economy: Case Studies in American Capitalism and Corporate Culture.

S.Hovhannisyan spent a semester-in-residence at Arizona State University as the American Studies program’s visiting fellow in 2021.

 
 
 

Gor Petrosyan

Gor Petrosyan is a  political scientist and a research fellow at the Caucasus Institute (Yerevan-based  Yerevan).  He is currently involved in PhD studies program at the faculty of international relations, Chair of Political Science. 

Mr. Petrosyan currently teaches the following courses: Introduction to American Politics:  (1) Political Leadership, Institutions and Processes and (2) Understanding American Society: Challenges and Transformations” at the American Studies Centre.

Tigran Yepremyan

Tigran Yepremyan is an Assistant Professor of Modern History at Yerevan State University, teaching European History and World History. He holds a Ph.D. in History from YSU. In 2018-2020, he taught a Global History course at the American University of Middle East in Kuwait. In 2014-2015, he was a member of a research team within the project Research beyond the Ivory Tower: Policy and Communications Training for University Teams at the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI). Before that, he had graduated from the Estonian School of Diplomacy (2012-2013). He is a member of national and international journal editorial boards.

Dr. T.Yepremyan is currently teaching two courses at the ASC: (1) U.S. History: Critical Thought and the Main Schools; (2) Diaspora Politics and Interest Groups in the U.S.

 Tigran Sargsyan

Dr. Tigran Sargsyan is an Associate Professor of Geography and Geology, YSU.

He is teaching at YSU since 2009, holding a PhD in Geography from YSU since 2010.

Academic and research areas of Dr. Sargsyan include:

  • Geography;
  • Regional development and regional studies;
  • Sustainable human development and environmental science;
  • Tourism studies.

Dr. T. Sargsyan is designated to teach two courses in American Studies MA program: (1) U.S. Political Geography and (2) U.S. Ecology and Energy Policy.

Gohar Harutyunyan

Dr. Gohar Harutyunyan is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of European Languages and  Communication, YSU.  Her research areas mostly  include interdisciplinary branches of science with a focus on   writing courses, language and communication, language and society, pragma-linguistics and  cross-cultural studies. Since 2007 she has been teaching  the summer Armenian  course at Critical Languages Institute, ASU. Over the course of the  fall semester she was hosted at ASU  for four months as a visiting scholar to develop two courses “Writing For the Professions” and “American Culture and Mass Communication” to be taught upon her return to Armenia in the American Studies MA program at Yerevan State University.
