Head of the International Cooperation Office at Yerevan State University since 2006. Professor of Political Science since 2012, YSU, Doctor of Sciences Degree (Dr. Habil.) with specialization in Political Science, 2010.
15 years of leadership and excellence experience in implementation of international higher education cooperation and successful history of projects development, administration and implementation. Professional experience also includes almost two decades of research, writing, and teaching on state and society developments in the Newly Independent States and Central and Eastern Europe with specialization in comparative study of political transformations and institutional developments.
Courses taught: Research Methods in Political Science; Political Sociology; Theory of Democracy; Transitology; Public Administration; History and Theory of Parliamentarism; Contemporary Schools in Political Science; Introduction to Political Science.
Areas of Research and Professional Interest: Comparative Politics; Democratization Processes; Executive-Legislative Relations; Studies in Political Opposition. Comparative Trends in Higher Education and Education Internationalization. Had published widely on these topics and taught graduate courses on post-Soviet politics in Armenia, Czech Republic and the US. Author of 3 monographs; 3 edited volumes and over 60 book chapters and articles.
Founded YSU program in Public Administration within the frames of Arizona State University – Yerevan State University Educational Partnership Project “Refashioning the Social Sciences and Practitioner Training in Public Administration” funded by the United States Department of State (2003 – 2006) and in 2008 was the first Acting Head of the Public Administration Department. In 2012 – 2015 been Principal Investigator for “Advancing gender equality and women’s empowerment in Armenia” Higher Education for Development (HED)-USAID. Grant.
Currently he is a PI for the «American Studies MA program and research center» under Cooperative Agreement funded by the U.S. Department of State.
International academic and research experience includes grants from the U.S. Department of State, The Norvegian Centre for Institutional Cooperation in Education; Economic and Social Research Council (UK); International Visegrad Fund; Swedish Institute; Open Society Institute Assistance Foundation; INTAS East and West – Network project as well as Tempus and Erasmusplus projects funded by the European Commission and participation in the JFDP and NISTEP programs funded by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the United States Department of State.
