On July 11, 2022 an expert meeting was held at the Center for European Studies YSU, within the framework of which the researchers of the American Studies Center YSU presented speeches to foreign students.
The topics of the meeting, jointly initiated by YSU International Cooperation Office and YSU American Studies Center, were related to various spheres of US political life (foreign policy, energy policy, US-EU, US-South Caucasus regional relations, etc.).
Within the framework of the meeting, the head of the International Cooperation Office of YSU, PhD, Professor Alexander Margarov presented the history of YSU, its scientific and research potential, as well as the main directions of YSU activity and prospective opportunities for development of expert and professional capabilities.
Director of the American Studies Center YSU , Ph.D., Associate Professor Vahagn Aglyan, speaking from the theoretical and conceptual approaches of foreign policy, noted that the role of international organizations should increase in the conditions of current world realities. The speaker also represented the possibility of the modern system of international relations in the form of three periods (post-Soviet region-EU-global world order).
Researcher of the American Studies Center YSU, Ph.D., Associate Professor Beniamin Poghosyan’s speech covered the situation in the South Caucasus region, in particular the relations of Armenia with neighboring states.
Nora Gevorgyan, researcher of YSU American Studies Center, referring to RA-EU relations, particularly within the framework of the Eastern Partnership, noted the important motivations for cooperation on both sides.
Tigran Sargsyan, researcher of YSU American Studies Center, presented the problem of European energy security in the context of US energy policy. The speaker particularly noted that diversification of energy sources, rational consumption of non-renewable resources and increasing the proportion of consumption of renewable natural resources, reduction of energy dependence are important from the point of view of energy security.
The meeting ended with a heated professional discussion.
